This demo involves logging on to the live application using the demo logons described below. Logon using the Login link in the upper right corner of the page, or navigate to http://www.PMRealWorld.com/Logon.aspx or navigate back to the Home Page.
This example involves 4 people working together virtually. These people are:
- A software developer who holds an account on PMRealWorld.com. We will name this person Primary Developer. Primary Developer's company is called Primary Developer Company
- A user created by Primary Developer who is a graphic artist that we will call Graphic Artist. Graphic Artist's company is called Graphic Artist Company
- Another user created by Primary Developer who is also a software developer who has skills that Primary Developer does not possess. We will call this person Secondary Developer. Secondary Developer's company is called Secondary Developer Company
- Lastly another user who is created by Primary Developer. This user is Primary Developer's customer. Primary Developer will be doing a project for this customer. The customer is a company called ABC Company, and Primary Developer will be working with the company contact who we will name Project Owner.
Logons for these users are as follows:
| Name | Logon ID | Password |
| Primary Developer | primary@developer.com | primary1 |
| Secondary Developer | secondary@developer2.com | secondary1 |
| Graphic Artist | graphic@artist.com | graphic1 |
| Project Owner | owner@abccompany.com | project1 |
You may log on to the live application using each of these logons to demo the application.
You will not be able to perform any updates, as the update buttons are disabled for the demo, but you will otherwise be able to view the update pages and enter data into the update pages.
Scenario: Primary Developer has been hired by Project Owner to create a new web site for ABC Company. Since graphics are required, Primary Developer has hired Graphic Artist to perform the graphics creation tasks. Since the web site is to be hosted on a platform that Primary Developer does not have development skills for, Secondary Developer is hired by Primary Developer to create the web site. Primary Developer will oversee the project using PMRealWorld.com Project Management Application.
Progess: Primary Developer created a new Project Owner record for ABC Company, the customer. He then created a project under the project owner to represent the project that he will be doing for ABC Company. Under the documents for this project, he created a document record for the project requirements so that the project owner can upload the Project Requirements document. He then created a new user for the project owner contact, Project Owner. He assigned this new user the document that he just created the record for, so that the project owner user can upload the requirements.
The project owner wished to have the new letterhead for the requirements document, so Primary Developer hired his partner, Graphic Artist to create this, and the images for the web site. He created a new user for Graphic Artist, and created 3 new document records for her to upload the 3 images that will be required and assigned those documents to her, giving her permission to upload those files when they were complete. Since this was part of the project, he created a task for uploading the images and assigned that to Graphic Artist as well. Since Graphic Artist charges $40 per hour for her work, Primary Developer entered the hourly rate of $40 into her task.
Primary Developer gave project owner view permission on the project, the task for Graphic Artist, and all her documents. As soon as Graphic Artist completed her task and uploaded her images, Project Owner downloaded the letterhead image, created the project requirements document, and uploaded it.
Now that Primary Developer had the requirements for the project, he created the remaining tasks for the project. The tasks were automatically assigned to him. However, during discussions with Project Owner, he learned that the web site was to be developed on a platform that he does not have expertise in. He then hired another partner, Secondary Developer, to create the web site. He assigned the hourly rate for all the remaining tasks to $50, which is Secondary Developer's rate. He created a new user for Secondary Developer and assigned all the remaining tasks to him.
Primary Developer then gave Project Owner view permissions on all the remaining tasks so that he could follow the progress. Secondary Developer downloaded the images needed for the web site and set up a test area in his web site. He started the task of creating the pages and uploaded his progress so far to his test site. Primary Developer then created a link record to link to the test site and gave Secondary Developer edit permissions on the link. Secondary Developer edited the link and added the correct URL to his test site. Primary Developer then edited Project Owner's permissions so that he could view the link.
Secondary Developer then concentrated on the Database Design task. He indicated through his task logs that the project was 100% complete. However, Primary Developer has not had a chance to check his work yet, and so updated the task status as Awaiting Approval. However, it appears that Secondary Developer should focus on the task of developing the stdatic pages, as it appears it may be falling behind.
Secondary Developer liked the Project Management Application, so he decided to get an account for himself. He has a project for DEF Company that he will begin working on as soon as the contact for that project uploads the requirements. He can view both his own projects and the project for ABC Company with one logon.
This is the point at which we have taken our snapshot.
